Chris Ferguson has been around for a long time and he has proven himself yet once again. He had quite the performance in the 2008 NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship. He was the runner up in 2005 and 2006, where he failed to take home the championship. This year however, he managed to pull off a win to bring in $500,000.00; a nice pay day for just about anybody

Andy Bloch was the runner up and he ended up taking home $250,000; still not a bad payday. At the last minute Andy Bloch replaced Brad Garret who is an actor and comedian. It is safe to say that even though he didn’t win the championship, he is still glad that he took place in the tournament. Both players’ are part of the Full Tilt Poker team. You can find them playing on Full Tilt just about every day and you can also play against them.
The interesting thing about this matchup is that both players are so familiar with each other. They are both well known players that play with a strong mathematical playing style. Just like I always preach here at Poker Perception, the math is extremely important. These players proved that this year as they went heads up in the final round for the championship.
The first match was actually won by Bloch as he came back against Ferguson. Bloch was then up 1-0 in a best out of three matchup. Needless to say, Chris Ferguson ended up coming back and taking home the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship. The final hand was won with a Pair of Jacks in the hole against Andy Bloch’s 10 4 of spades. He put his fate in the hands of a quarter that he flipped to determine whether he would call or fold; the rest is history.
